Pet placemat

Make your furry friend feel special with their own dinner setting.

You will need:

40cm cotton printed fabric
heatnBond iron-on vinyl – matte finish (gloss finish also available)
scissors
tape measure
ladelle magic grip in colour to match fabric
matching Gutermann 100% cotton thread
sewing machine
iron
baking paper
snap clips

Approx size: 30 x 48cm

Cut fabric to 36 x 54cm, or desired size. Cut a piece of HeatnBond iron-on vinyl to same size as fabric.
Following manufacturer’s instructions, heat iron and apply vinyl to fabric.
Trim vinyl-covered fabric to 33 x 51cm. Using a rotary cutter and quilting ruler makes cutting straight edges easier.
Turn side edges under 1.5cm and finger press. Using machine, sew using a long straight stitch. Repeat hem on top and bottom.
Cut a piece of magic grip 32 x 50cm and place on back of hemmed vinyl fabric 5mm in from all four edges. Do not pin, use snap clips to hold in place.
Put the placemat on a sheet of baking paper and use a zigzag stitch to sew over the line of straight stitching. The baking paper prevents the magic grip from sticking to the machine.

Cover the ironing surface with baking paper to prevent any glue transfer from vinyl.
